Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data the RIOT website collects, why, and how you can control cookies. The desktop app itself runs on your computer and does not upload your images to us.

Who is responsible
The website riot-optimizer.com is operated by Lucian Sabo, the author of RIOT. For privacy questions, cookie requests, or to exercise your rights, write to contact@riot-optimizer.com.
What this site does
This is a marketing and download site for a free image optimizer. You can read news, download installers, and optionally subscribe to updates. There is no user account on this website. Bug reports and feature votes live on the separate User Portal, where you can create an account if you want to.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Under the GDPR and the ePrivacy rules, we only set optional cookies after you choose them in the banner. Necessary cookies (your consent choice, and security cookies from our host) do not require that extra opt-in.
Use Accept all, Reject optional, or Customize in the banner. You can change your mind at any time with .
Google Analytics and Google ads follow Google Consent Mode: until you allow a category, those products run without advertising or analytics cookies.

Cloudflare Pages does not need cookies just to serve HTML. The cookies above appear only when Cloudflare’s CDN or security products (bot fight, challenges, some rate-limit rules) are active. Cloudflare treats them as strictly necessary. See Cloudflare’s cookie documentation.

Ads may appear on the download thank-you page via Google AdSense (publisher ca-pub-5749272670261049). The AdSense script is loaded only if you allow advertising cookies. Google may set additional cookies on its own domains; the current list is at Google advertising cookies. You can also use Google Ads Settings.
User Portal (Fider)
The User Portal (feedback.riot-optimizer.com) is where you can report bugs and vote on ideas. It is a separate site, hosted by Fider (the hostname is a CNAME to riot.fider.io). You can browse it without an account. If you sign up, Fider processes the name and email you give them so you can stay signed in and post.
Those cookies are set on the portal host (and Fider’s auth host), not on this website. The banner on riot-optimizer.com cannot switch them off. Fider treats them as strictly necessary for the portal to work. See Fider’s cookie policy.

Cloudflare hosting
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Installers are stored on Cloudflare R2 (downloads.riot-optimizer.com). Cloudflare, Inc. is a processor: it delivers pages and files through its global network and may process technical data (IP address, user agent, timestamps, referrer, requested URL) for hosting, caching, DDoS protection, and reliability.

Other recipients
- Google — Analytics, AdSense/Ads, and web fonts loaded from
fonts.googleapis.com/fonts.gstatic.com(fonts themselves are not advertising cookies; your IP is still sent to Google when the stylesheet loads). - Fider — hosts the User Portal. Account data and the cookies above are processed by Fider to run that service.
- follow.it — if you subscribe with your email, that address is processed by follow.it under their terms. You can use the Atom feed instead.
What we collect ourselves
- Emails you send to contact@riot-optimizer.com (inquiries). We keep them only as long as needed to reply and any follow-up.
- Optional User Portal account (name, email, posts and votes) if you register on the Fider-hosted portal.
- Optional newsletter sign-up via follow.it, as above.
Download clicks go to a thank-you page, then the file on R2. We do not require an account or extra form for that.
Legal bases (GDPR)
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — operating and securing the site, answering email, Cloudflare hosting and security logs.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) and ePrivacy) — Google Analytics, Google ads, and related cookies. You can withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful use.
- Contract / pre-contract steps (Art. 6(1)(b)) — when you write about a download, partnership, or similar request, and when you create or use a User Portal account.
Retention and transfers
Cookie lifetimes are in the tables. Analytics and ads data follow Google’s retention settings. Cloudflare logs are kept according to Cloudflare’s service. Portal accounts follow Fider’s retention. Google, Cloudflare, and Fider may process data in the United States and other countries. Where GDPR requires a transfer tool, those providers use Standard Contractual Clauses and related measures.
Your rights
If GDPR applies to you, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability, and you can withdraw cookie consent. Email contact@riot-optimizer.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. If you are in the EEA/UK, that is typically the authority in your country of residence.
The RIOT desktop app
The optimizer runs locally. Images you open are not sent to this website or to a RIOT cloud. This policy covers the website, downloads hosting, and related online services — not files that stay on your machine.
Changes
If we change how we use cookies in a material way, we will update this page and, when required, ask for consent again through the banner.
