RIOT among the 50 best freeware apps from 2009 (clubic award)

I was very impressed and honored to see that a well known french IT magazine – Clubic – included RIOT among the best 50 freeware applications of the year 2009.
My surprise was even bigger to find RIOT was the first in the category “Les meilleurs outils graphiques gratuits de l’année 2009” (The best free graphic utilities of year 2009).

“During a 2009 full of news, your favorite Clubic software library has been enriched by a myriad of applications. Month after month, we were writing about practical software but also fun to use in the everyday life. To finish the year in style, Clubic invites you to discover the 50 best freeware analyzed by the editor in 2009!

Through this section of ten pages, you can discover the cream of the crop in the fields of utilities, system utilities, security software, multimedia software, graphical tools, games, web browser extensions, customization tools, software for Mac and other useful programs for the everyday life. There’s something for everyone from beginners to advanced users. Test them, adopt them, use them with happiness. Clubic wishes you happy holidays!”

Here is what Clubic has to say about RIOT (my translation from french):

“Far from editing software which acts more like gas plants, more suitable for making small  batch operations, Riot is one of our favorite pearls. Indeed, it is an excellent program for those wishing to resize photos (send them by mail, for example) without too much damage in their quality. Riot (standing for Radical Image Optimization Tool) allows you to resize images with 6 different methods, compress entering the desired output size, rotate 90 degrees right and left or convert images to JPEG, GIF and PNG. JPEG, GIF, PNG, PSD, TIFF, ICO, BMP, PCX are supported, as well as metadata (EXIF  ICC, IPTC and XMP), which can be eliminated. It still lacks some functionality to became totally indispensable, especially in terms of cropping and adding watermark, but they should make their appearance in future versions.”

Thank you, Clubic magazine and Clubic readers, for appreciating my work !
